Our animals are used to people and children. But animals are and remain animals. We humans don't always feel like being talkative and funny at all times. For the welfare of our animals and for your safety, we ask you to observe the following:

  • We ask you to take the animals' resting times seriously and not to enter the stable outside stable hours.
  • In general, we ask you not to enter the animals' pastures and enclosures without consulting us.
  • There is always electricity in the fence tape of the cattle - so please be careful, there is no electricity in the fence of the pigs, rabbits and chickens.
  • You should always approach the animals from the front and calmly, no rushing, no shouting and above all no teasing the animals.
  • We are a farm and not a petting zoo - i.e. please do not stroke our cattle and pigs, as this can be dangerous.
  • You also have to respect it if the rabbits, cats or chickens don't feel like being stroked. Just try again at another time.
  • Never run away from an animal - keep calm.
  • When entering a pasture (even when walking), take a stick in your hand. The cows and cattle know that whoever has a stick in their hand is the boss. If you are attacked by an animal, you can calmly hit it with the stick. But never hit an animal without good reason.
  • Leftovers are very welcome to be fed to our animals. But please note that we are not a petting zoo, but a farm. This means that our animals will not eat out of your hand. We ask you to put the food down carefully for the animals, they will get it themselves.

Who eats what at the Bergerhof?

Our cattle get hay and concentrated feed from us - we ask you not to feed them with leftovers. Our pigs are happy to eat anything except meat in large quantities. If you have sausage or meat left over, our cats are very greedy for it. Our chickens love pasta and crumbled bread. The rabbits love picked dandelions, lettuce leaves and hard bread. Banana peels, lemon and orange peels, coffee filters, tea bags and food that is no longer in good condition can be put on the dung heap next to the pigs. We ask you not to dispose of food in the garbage. If you do not dare to visit the animals yourself or have any questions, please let us know. Otherwise, we wish you lots of wonderful animal moments on our farm.

And by the way: In summer, we take you to feed the animals once a week. There you can be very close to our animals. In the winter months, you can visit our animals in the barn every evening during stable time.
