Especially nowadays, when everyone is talking about climate protection, you see a few things from a completely different perspective. Reason enough to recommend a car-free day in our beautiful homeland to our guests. Explore East Tyrol in comfort with the Postbus. Instead of "torturing" yourself up and down the mountain roads, sit on the bus, relax and marvel at our beautiful landscape.

We are well aware that the bus connections in East Tyrol could be improved. But let's be honest. You're on vacation. It's a gift to be able to wait for a bus somewhere in the countryside and enjoy the beautiful birdsong or the sound of a mountain stream. And if I'm lucky, there might be an inn or hut nearby where I can treat myself to some East Tyrolean delicacies.

All buses within East Tyrol are free of charge with the guest card. You can find the current timetables at www.vvt.at or at https://www.osttirol.com/service/gratisnutzung-der-verkehrsmittel/. The nearest bus stop is in Großdorf - about a 10-minute walk from the Bergerhof.

Of cours we have tips for you:

How about a trip to the sunny town of Lienz?

Lienz is located in the very south, on the sunny side of the Alps, so to speak, close to the border with Italy. So it's no wonder that not only the "Dolce Vita" is lived here, but also the flair is southern. But with an added bonus of unique beauty - the Lienz Dolomites. Where else can you sit in the middle of the city under palm trees, sipping a cappuccino with a view of the imposing, towering mountain peaks?

Or you can start a leisurely hike along the longest free-flowing glacial river in the Alps:

The Iseltrail

From the sunny Dolomite town of Lienz in the green valley floor to the arctic glacier gate in the Hohe Tauern National Park. From lovely cultivated landscape to secluded Alpine wilderness. Always accompanied by the refreshing primal element of water, past meadows, gravel banks, gorges, rapids and waterfalls: The new Iseltrail reveals the pulsating lifeline of East Tyrol as a conveyor belt of fabulously untouched natural beauty. And nature enthusiasts have a magnificent mountain world at their feet. Sometimes calmly rushing past picturesque scenery, sometimes dramatically roaring with unbridled temperament, sometimes mysteriously gushing, the river presents itself with many faces. Whether you are a nature lover, pleasure hiker, wilderness fan or heat escapee: follow your river.

You can find all the information about this hike here
