Winter magic in Kals, Großglockner

Kals, Großglockner, is surrounded by magical three-thousanders. In the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park, Kals is indeed a breathtaking winter backdrop.

Skiing at Grossglockner Resort Kals Matrei:

The family-friendly Großglockner Resort Kals Matrei is probably the most beautiful ski resort in the Alps. The Grossglockner can be seen from anywhere in the resort, but you will probably not be able to get enough of it!
The ski bus stop is right next to the house. Otherwise, you are welcome to take the car to get to the valley station which is only 2km away.

We have one skischool in Kals. The name is Skischule Kals. It is possible to order your lesson here.


Guided ski tours:

Experience the mountains around the Grossglockner in the wintertime. Use your ski skins in order to get to the summit and enjoy the wonderful powder snow or névé as you ski down the valley.
Our state-certified Kalser mountain and ski guides will be able to assist you and ensure an unforgettable ski tour.

If necessary, you are more than welcome to have breakfast before half past 8.
We are also happy to prepare packed lunches for our ski tourers.


Ice skating:

The skating rink is only a 7-minute walk away from us. Skating shoes can be borrowed at all the sports shops.


Sledging - fun for the whole family:

Use the illuminated sled run “Fallwindes” to turn long winter evenings into daytime! Take a nice walk to get to the top, then take a deserved break at the sledge hut. To go downhill, sleds can be borrowed.


Soak up the sun as you enjoy sledging on the Moa alpine pasture. The sled run is only about 1 km from our house. You will enjoy fun times with your whole family.


Cross-country skiing:

25 km of perfectly groomed cross-country ski trails—without extreme inclines--connect the individual districts of Kals, Großglockner. Honored for the exemplary cultivation, Kals was awarded the cross-country trail stamp of quality by the state of Tyrol.
The entrances to the trails can be reached by ski bus or on foot.
